Warwick Turbulence Symposium

Joint Workshop and Graduate summer school:

Instabilities and Turbulence in MHD flows

Organisers:   Sergei Molokov, Sergey Nazarenko, Andre Thess, Thierry Alboussiere and Mike Proctor (26th June - 1st July 2006).

maths building

The aim of the workshop is to review current status of research on instabilities, transition, and turbulence in magnetohydrodynamic flows. This will include both low- and high- Rm regimes, DNS and various turbulence models, as well as applications to electromagnetic processing of materials, astrophysics, solar- and geo- dynamo, and tokamak plasmas.

Graduate summer school on MHD will run in parallel, but not interfering with the workshop. Introductory lectures on a particular topic will start in the morning, followed by the afternoon sessions on a similar topic at the workshop.

Detailed information about the Summer School can be found here (doc, pdf). Note that all funds have now been committed to supported a limited number of the school participants whose applications were received first. However, further aplications are welcome from graduate students whose home institutions can sponsor their participation.
