Mathematical Physics

. ........
We deal with a quite different, but equally interesting and important, set of topics in mathematical physics from many other universities.

These topics include:

Differential geometry (Micallef, Rawnsley).

Dynamo theory (Kozlovski).

Hamiltonian mechanics (MacKay).

Integrable systems, random matrices, turbulence, quantum field theory (Zaboronski)

Localised coherent structures in solid-state physics (Baesens, Mackay).
Examples include multi-vibrons in molecular crystals, bipolarons in charge-density wave materials, impurities in crystal lattices; and Nonlinear conductivity in charge-density wave materials.

Mathematical theory of quantum mechanics (Friesecke).

Partial differential equations of physics (J.Robinson).

Potts models and vertex algebras (Westbury).

Stochastic analysis (Elworthy, Tribe).

Symplectic geometry and quantisation (Rawnsley).
