EC Eligibility criteria


The young researcher must be a holder of a doctoral degree ("postdoc") or of a degree obtained from a university or equivalent institution of higher education which qualifies them to embark on a doctoral degree ("predoc").

The young researcher must be aged 35 years or less at the time of appointment. An allowance to this age limit may be made for the actual time spent in compulsory military or civil service or child care (a maximum of two years per child for the actual time spent off work).

The young researcher must be a national of a Member state of the Community or of an Associated State or have resided in the Community for at least five years prior to their appointment.

They must not be a national of the state in which the research team appointing them is located and must not have carried out their normal activities in that state for more than 12 of the 24 months prior to their appointment.
